Naugatuck 2019 Local Elections: Candidates, Polling Places, Hours

NAUGATUCK, CT — The polls are now open and voting has begun in Naugatuck’s municipal election. The positions of town treasurer and tax collector, and spots on the boards of education, mayor and burgesses, and zoning are all up for grabs.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 5. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

In Naugatuck, Democratic Mayor Pete Hess is running unopposed for a third term. Town Clerk Michelle Dowling is cross-endorsed by both political parties. For Town Treasurer its Gary Hughes, a Democrat, versus Judy E. Anderson. For Tax Collector its Jim Goggin, a Democrat, versus Kasdyn Click a Republican.

For the Board of Mayor and Burgess, Naugatuck residents will vote for any six candidates. The Democratic candidates are: Rocky Vitale, Carl J. Herb, Charles P. Marenghi, Fran Dambowsky, Laurie Taf Jackson, Visar Tasimi. The Republican candidates are: Mike Bronko, Robert Neth, Donald Wisniewski, Jack Deoliveira, Jan J. Mizeski, and Matthew Tansley.

For the Board of Education, Naugatuck residents will vote for any four candidates. The Democratic candidates are: James N. Scully, Stephen Samela, Michael Cook, Ethel S. Grant, and Jason L. Celozzi. The Republican candidates are: Marilyn O'Donnell, Dorothy Neth-Kunin, Glenn Connan, Jeffrey Litke, and Diana V. Malone.

For the Planning Commission, Naugatuck residents will pick two candidates. The choices are: Democrat, Joe Pesce, and Republicans, Robert Pease and Robert Clark.

For the Zoning Commission, Naugatuck residents will pick two candidates. The choices are: Neil D. Mascola, a Democrat, and Republicans, Richard Cool and Attila "AJ" Bordas.

Connecticut offers Election Day registration, but those who arrive need to be registered by 8 p.m. in order to vote. Unlike previously registered voters standing in line before 8 p.m. to registrar won't guarantee the ability to vote.
