Naugatuck Man Arrested On Murder, Assault Charges: Norwalk Police

Police said a Naugatuck man was arrested in Norwalk on charges connected to a Waterbury murder investigation. His bond was set at $3.5M.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man spotted walking in Norwalk was arrested Thursday on charges connected with a Waterbury murder investigation, according to Norwalk police.

In a news release, Norwalk Police Sgt. Ryan Evarts said the department's Special Services Division was contacted Thursday by Waterbury police regarding a murder investigation.

According to Evarts, police held an active arrest warrant for Barry Mason, 52, of Naugatuck, and Special Services officers developed information Mason could be in the greater Norwalk area.

Officers set up surveillance at a location Mason was known to frequent and spotted him walking on Lexington Avenue around 5:30 p.m., Evarts said.

Mason was arrested and brought to Norwalk police headquarters, then turned over to the Waterbury Police Department, Evarts said.

Mason was charged with murder, first-degree assault and conspiracy to commit first-degree assault. His bond was set at $3.5 million, according to Evarts.
