Naugatuck Social Studies Teacher Will Ride In Cancer Fundraiser
Tim Walsh will be saddling up to join his team for the Smilow Cancer Hospital Closer to Free bike ride Sept. 8.

NAUGATUCK - A year after friends at Naugatuck High School raised around $18,000 to support teacher Tim Walsh in his fight against cancer, Walsh will be saddling up to join his team for the Smilow Cancer Hospital Closer to Free bike ride Sept. 8.
Last year, Walsh, a social studies teacher, had just started chemotherapy for stage four colon cancer when Naugatuck staff and friends came together to ride in his name.
Now cancer-free, Walsh will be joining the team this year to raise money for the Smilow Cancer Hosptial.
Most of the team's 24 riders will follow a 65-mile loop down along the coastline to Guilford and up to Durham. Riders can choose between a 10, 25, 40, 65, or 100 mile route.
