Naugatuck Woman Rescues Poodle

The dog needed immediate surgery and had its leg amputated.

A Naugatuck woman is at it again helping to rescue an animal in distress.

A 5 ½ pound poodle named Merlin was found abandoned in Putnam and animal control officials there called Daryl Masone, owner of the non-profit Poodle Rescue Connecticut in Naugatuck.

The dog’s leg was in bad shape, and needed to be amputated due to a lack of blood flow to the led for some time, the Waterbury Republican-American reports.

Merlin’s teeth also needed cleaning and the medical bill came to $1,400. Masone said the dog needed surgery immediately, the paper reports.

On her Facebook page, Masone wrote “Merlin is resting comfortably after his major surgery today. Proper pain management and time is what he needs to heal. After this time he will need a loving home to make his heart happy once again. It’s been a long time since someone cared for him properly,”
