Naugatuck YMCA Crowns Champions

Naugatuck YMCA Little Pal Basketball Champions Sr Boys & Sr Girls

Naugatuck, CT – With some exciting championship games in both the Sr Boys and Sr Girls leagues the Naugatuck YMCA’s Little Pal Basketball season has officially come to a close.

The Naugatuck Rotary (11-2) swept the Firefighters (8-5) in a best of three series to decide the Little Pal Sr. Boys championship. Rotary, coached by Matt Galiette and Brand Noble won Game 1, 48-23. Rotary was led by Vonni Bennett with 12 and Ryan Noble with 9 points apiece. Firefighters, coached by Glenn Petelle and Scott Mastropietro, was led by Croy Mastropietro with 9 points. Rotary also took Game 2 of the series by the score of 49-34. Rotary was once again led by Vonni Bennett with 16 points and the Firefighters were led by Evan Petelle with 15 points.

On the Sr. Girls side, the Liberty (13-0), sponsored by Nardelli’s, fought hard to remain undefeated and ended with a league best 13-0 perfect season. In the Championship series the Liberty took on the Storm (8-5), sponsored by Yelding Associates, in a best of three series. The Liberty, coached by Jay Kane and Mike Mastropietro defeated the Storm, coached by David Rotatori and Shakiera Howard, 17-14. In Game 2 of the series the Liberty continued to dominate and won 27-18, led by Alyssa Roberts with 10 points and Cayla Howard led the Storm with 8 points.
