On Friday night at Breen North, the Naugatuck Pride U11 Boys travel team welcomed Trumbull United to town for a first round CT Cup game. The Pride defeated Trumbull 2-1 to advance to this coning weekends second round. The two teams played a scoreless first half that was very even with both teams not having many chances. Naugy started the scoring mid way through the second half on a beautiful goal by Jay Barth. Naugy grabbed a second goal with about 7 minutes to play after Chad Mahlers free kick deflected off a Trumbull defender and ended up in the back of the net. Trumbull hung tough and got one back with about 4 minutes to play. Naugy's defense hung tight and preserved the 2-1 victory with some great play in the back by Chris Akinduro, Ryan Kiely, Jay Barth, Tyler Demoura and Chad Mahler. Naugy's Ryan Galiette played excellent in goal despite having a tweaked hamstring. Also playing well for Naugy was Steven Alziphat who continuously made space down the right wing. Bailey Ceryak, Tyler Ranno and Tyler Timlen all played well for Naugy.
Naugy's next game will be against either Stamford or Manchester. The draw will be posted tonight.
