SQUARE ONE THEATRE COMPANY Invited to Present Its Production of Irish Comedy CHAPATTI at Westport Community Theatre

Stratford’s Square One Theatre and the Westport Community Theatrer Join Forces in Presenting Square One’s Production of the Heart-Warming Irish Comedy CHAPATTI
Stratford’s Square One Theatre and the Westport Community Theatre join forces in presenting Square One’s celebrated 2017 production of Chapatti, offering a heart-warming and delightful Irish comedy with just the right mix of charm, intensity, humor, poignancy and surprising twists.
Chapatti features just a perfect combination of charm, intensity, humor, poignancy and surprising twists, as playwright O’Reilly’s mutts and felines seem to pave the way for an unlikely common ground between two pet owners.
The Westport performances of Chapatti reimagined for the Westport Community Theatre by original director, Tom Holehan, are Fridays through Sundays beginning June 7 and continuing through June 23 (2024) at the Westport Community Theatre located at 110 Myrtle Avenue in Westport, Connecticut. For tickets, contact the WCT Box Office at 203.226.1983 or visit www.wct.com.

Chapatti follows the unexpected intersection between two middle-age singletons – Betty, a lonely widow with 19 cats, and Dan, a bereaved gentleman who lives only for his beloved dog, Chapatti (named for Dan’s favorite Indian dish). Watching Betty and Dan hurt, heal and ultimately come to terms with their lives and each other is truly a rich, wonderful experience. According to one critic, “I’ve seen a hundred love stories; still, I insist that Chapatti is often fresh and even innovative. And I admit that I can’t think of another recent work that’s so touched my heart.”
Chapatti will soon become a staple in theatres the world over. Smiles, laughter and a few tears may be shed, but audiences will never forget the beauty and poignancy of this tender story about two people who learn how to love again." (ChicagoTheatreReview.com). “It leaves you cheering for these two characters’ hard-won moments of happiness." (Chicago Sun-Times).
The cast of Chapatti features two Square One and Westport Community Theatre audience favorites, Lucy Babbitt (Stratford) and Al Kulcsar (Fairfield) directed by Stratford’s Tom Holehan.
