(SHARON, CT) Kicking off its 25th Anniversary Season, TriArts Sharon Playhouse, under the leadership of Artistic Director John Simpkins and Managing Director Justin Ball, presents Alain Boublil & Claude-Michel Schönberg’s Tony Award-winning musical masterpiece Les Misérables, making it long awaited Sharon Playhouse premiere, from June 18-29. Opening Night is June 19 at 8pm.
Directed by John Simpkins, the production stars Brian Cali (Encores! The Most Happy Fella and Master Class with Tyne Daly) as Jean Valjean and Justin Patterson (Broadway’s Annie, A Little Night Music, Memphis) as Javert. Also featured in the 35-member company are Patton Chandler (Marius), Kalli Siringas (Eponine), Sergio Pasquariello (Enjolras), Katie Weiser (Cosette), Travis Mitchell (Thernadier), Jamie Schraff (Madame Thernadier), Sarah Cline (Fantine), Evan Fine and Giaco Traggio (Gavroche), Charlotte Clulow, Lorelei Gnerre, Akira Golz, Leah Schraff (Young Cosette). Ensemble members are Rose Bisogno, Dave Cadwell, Sam Everett, David Fanning, Gabbie Fried, Luke Garrison, Elizabeth Gerbi, Morgan Grambo, Taylor Johnson, Alan J. Kelly, Lauren Krauss, Christian Lange, Delaney Parker, AnnMarie Powers, Peter Reyelt, Nikhil Saboo, Thomas J. Schindler, Ian Shain, Sarah Treanor, and Josh Zacher.
Eric Kang returns as musical director and Nathaniel Shaw makes his Sharon Playhouse debut as choreographer.

Based on Victor Hugo’s classic novel, Les Misérables is an epic and uplifting story about the survival of the human spirit. The magnificent score includes the classic songs “I Dreamed a Dream,” “On My Own,” “Stars,” “Bring Him Home,” “Do You Hear the People Sing?,” “One Day More,” “Empty Chairs at Empty Tables,” “Master Of The House” and many more.
Les Misérables is designed by Michael Schweikardt (sets), Michelle Eden Humphrey (costumes), Chris Dallos (lighting), and Brad Berridge (sound). Geoff Josselson is casting director. Thomas J. Coppola is production stage manager.
The original New York production of Les Misérables premiered first at the Broadway Theatre on March 12, 1987, later moving to the Imperial on October 17, 1990, where it played until May 18, 2003, for a total Broadway run of 6680 performances. Seen by nearly 65 million people worldwide in 42 countries and in 22 languages, Les Misérables is undisputedly one of the world’s most popular musicals ever written. A second Broadway revival (the first was in 2006) is scheduled for March 2014.
Sharon Playhouse (49 Amenia Road/Route 343). Performances of Les Misérables are Wednesday at 7pm; Thursday at 2pm and 7pm; Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 3pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 1pm and 5:30pm.
