The Boy Scouts of America have a long tradition of helping the community that goes back over 100 years. Troop 102 in Naugatuck is no exception. In the early days of the troop the Boy Scouts where called on to help children and elderly citizens anytime of the day or night by the ringing of the fire bell, 3 short tolls 4 times in a row. That signaled the Boys to jump to action.
Today's Troop is alive and strong, still carrying out the community services. Each year the Troop travels to White Memorial Conservation Center for their May camp-out. But the group is not just there to camp and have fun, the Troop uses this weekend adventure to clean up the camp grounds for the upcoming season. The boys help take care of the sizeable job of preparing the camp ground for all the other visitors who will enjoy a summer of fun camping in the park by clearing out the fall and winter debris.
The Good Turn Project for Troop 102 is a yearly tradition and just one of the many ways your local Boy Scout Troop helps the community stay a great place to live and play.
