The Junior Brothers and Lys Guillorn at the Desultory Theatre Club

A special evening of music with "The Junior Brothers" and "Lys Guillorn"

February 8, 2014

The Junior Brothers

Dave Murelli Jr. is a singer-songwriter, guitar player. He has played bass for various country and rockabilly bands around the US including Jessica Rose and the High-Life, Alex Battles and the Whiskey Rebellion, GT and the Sidewinders, and Innocent Nixon. He’s appeared on CMT with Alex Battles, and that same week he was interviewed by a local newscaster about that French IMF guy of whom he knows really nothing about.

Billy Villano Jr. is a singer-songwriter, guitarist, and pedal steel player that has been in the Brooklyn Country / Americana music scene since the late 90s.  He’s been in such groups as the Fandanglers, Jessica Rose and the High-Life, and more recently with Dave Junior in the Americans, a band they co-founded.  For obvious reason the Americans name had to go and hence, the Junior Brothers were born.  His music and playing has been featured on the radio and television, including MTV and ABC.

Junior Brothers are rooted in country music but also venture into Americana and rock. They perform as both an acoustic duo as well as with a full band.

Saturdays performance will also feature the multi-talented local percussionist heart stopper and blogger Chris "Lightning" Hoehne on percussion.

Lys Guillorn is an "avant-twang" multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter from Shelton, CT. Her second full-length studio CD Winged Victory released in November 2013 is Guillorn's first featuring her bandmates Michael Guillorn on bass and Peter Riccio of the Sawtelles on drums. Both will be joining her for her Desultory Theatre Club debut. Guillorn writes songs about ghosts, weird dreams, nature, literary self-examination, time passing, weird dreams. How about those weird dreams?

Guillorn's 2003 self-titled debut CD featured her multi-instrumental skils and guest spots from members of The Feelies, Luna, and guitar legend Robert Quine. She folllowed up her debut with 2006's Three Songs, a tantalizingly short, but beautiful look into Guillorn's bedroom Brian Wilson approach to recording, which also features a hand-letterpress-printed cover. In 2009, Guillorn released "Wayward Children", a collection of compilation tracks, covers, and some previously unavailable demos.

“So if oddly uplifting, folk, blues country-infused acoustic semi-electric psychedelic dark pop music is your thing, please say hello to Lys Guillorn, you'll get along just fine.”—Geraint Jones, Comes With a Smile #14 (UK)
