TheatreWorks' TW Kids to Offer Spring Break Program

ONLINE REGISTRATION BEGINS FEBRUARY 17th

TheatreWorks' TW Kids Spring Break Program for Ages 7 to 15 - Schoolhouse Rock Jr LIVE!

NEW MILFORD, CONN -January 24, 2014 - TheatreWorks' Kids (TW Kids) registration will open on February 17 for a one week-long program during Spring Break, April 12-18, 2014.  Led by instructor Amy Emke, students ages 7 to 15 will rehearse and perform a production of SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK Jr., the Emmy® Award-winning  Saturday Morning educational cartoon series.  Classes begin with a two hour introduction on Saturday April 12 and continue from Monday April 14 to Friday April 18 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm each day. Tuition is $250.00.  A performance for parents, friends, and the general public will be on Friday evening at 7:00 pm.

A pop culture phenomenon introduced in the mid-1970's with a revival in the 1990's, SCHOOLHOUSE ROCK was a series of animated videos and songs invented by a jazz musician who wanted to help children learn math. The scope expanded to other subjects as its popularity increased.

Each student will have the opportunity to shine in this energetic musical which follows Tom, a young school teacher who is nervous about his first day of teaching. He tries to relax by watching TV when various characters representing facets of his personality emerge from the set and show him how to win his students over with imagination and music. Memorable songs as “Just A Bill,” "Interjection" and “Conjunction Junction” bring his lesson plans vividly to life.

The TW Kids program focuses on the craft of acting, along with lessons throughout the process of mounting a production, vocal skills and basic choreography. This program inspires creativity, confidence and a sense of community through the exploration and practice of theatre skills. The TW Kids after-school and summer programs have helped bring the joy of theatre to many children and given each and every one of them a chance to learn and grow.
