Top Naugatuck Economic Development Corp. Official Cites Frustrations, Plans to Resign: Report

The long-time Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation chairman has expressed some concerns over the planned Parcel C redevelopment.

Naugatuck, CT - Long-time Naugatuck Economic Development Corporation Chairman Jay Carlson publicly announced plans to resign from the panel over concerns about the exterior of a building proposed as part of the Parcel C redevelopment, the Republican-American reports.

Carlson said he wants the exterior of the proposed 30,000-square-foot office building, which will be anchored by Saint Mary's Hospital, to be made of brick, which conforms to the character of downtown, reports Paul Singley of the Rep-Am.

But Carlson said borough leaders are ok with the developer's plan to use stucco material. But the developer on Monday night told the Rep-Am he plans to use brick after all and officials are hopeful that Carlson changes his mind and doesn't resign over the possible misunderstanding.
