Another Underage Drinking Party Busted Up By New Canaan Police

A pair of New Canaan teenagers were cited in connection with the party on Laurel Road.

NEW CANAAN, CT — A pair of New Canaan teenagers were charged on Aug. 3 in connection with an underage drinking party at a residence on Laurel Road, according to police, the latest such case in what has been a trend in several area communities.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Soundview Lane and Laurel Road at about 10 p.m. on a report of an underage party and quickly found it at a home on Laurel Road.

At the scene, officers "observed signs of juveniles at this residence with alcohol outside of the house and inside," wrote New Canaan police in a statement.

Griffin P. Edmonds, 19, who lives at the residence, was issued a misdemeanor summons for possession of alcohol by a minor and permitting minors to possess alcohol.

Additionally, an attendee of the party, Gene Bird, 18, of White Oak Shade Road, was arrested on a charge of interfering with an officer after he locked himself in a closet to allegedly hide from police, and then refused to come out when asked by officers.

Bird was eventually taken into custody and released on a promise to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Aug. 16. Edmonds' court date is Aug. 15.
