With temperatures this winter going into the 50s, it has been difficult to figure out what to put on. It was a little easier in January and February to dress in boots, sweaters, and coats because, well, it was January and February. It just seemed to make sense. Now that it is March, it is getting trickier.
It sounds like spring. The word March brings to mind sunshine, shamrocks, flowers, Easter eggs, the end of basketball. And it looks like spring. My daffodils, peonies, and those things that look like cabbage in my yard, are all popping up in my flower beds. With no snow on the ground, there is no need to be sporting snow boots still. The other day I broke out a pair of open toed shoes. I ended up standing next to a woman in hunter rain boots. Which one of us was right? Well, she was. But that's not the point. The point is how do we dress now for this transition period between what was (maybe) winter and now almost spring?
I have some favorite “wear now/wear later” pieces. Things I can layer now and then wear alone when the air is actually warm. Dresses work great for this. You can take a sleeveless, short, colorful summer dress and pair with boots, tights, cardigan and belt to move it through seasons and not only wear it when you have a tan. Colored jeans also work now, with ankle boots and a blazer, and later, with strappy sandals and a tank. One Must Have is the spring jacket. It really feels nice to move from the black, down parka to a light, fresh jacket that will still block out the occasional chill.

I hope I am not the only one struggling each morning with "What do I wear today?" I also hope winter is not waiting to surprise us by showing up this late. I am dreaming of spring.
