Decision Reached On New Canaan Pop Up Park: Report

The park has been a popular summer feature in downtown New Canaan for the past few years.

NEW CANAAN, CT — An abbreviated version of the Pop Up Park in downtown New Canaan will be installed from Aug. 3 to Aug. 23, following a decision by the Board of Selectmen Tuesday.

The New Canaan Advertiser reports that the local Chamber of Commerce and the park's organizing committee reached an understanding on the roles of the two groups, which helped to pave the way for the Selectmen's unanimous approval.

In addition to shortening the temporary park's tenure from six weeks to three weeks, the physical footprint - which is located on South Avenue between Morse Court and Elm Street - will be a bit smaller than in past years. Both concessions were requested by area merchants, who said the park can be disruptive to business.
