Late Fotis Dulos Owes Jennifer Dulos' Mother Nearly $2M: Court

HARTFORD, CT — The estate of Fotis Dulos owes Gloria Farber, mother of the late Jennifer Farber Dulos, nearly $2 million in a civil lawsuit, a Hartford court ruled on Monday.

Following the divorce filing by her daughter to end her marriage to Dulos, Farber sued her former son-in-law for millions in what she claimed were loans to his former luxury home building company, Fore Group.

Fotis Dulos argued the money was a gift from his former father-in-law, the late Hilliard Farber, and that he never had to repay it.

"The court does not find credible Dulos’ testimony that Farber promised orally to annually gift to him and Jennifer amounts of money equal to those sums treated as nontaxable by the Internal Revenue Code," wrote Superior Court Judge Cesar A. Noble in his ruling.

Fotis Dulos died by suicide in January and was facing a murder charge in the killing of his estranged wife. She went missing May 24 of last year, and her body has not been found.

"Because the evidence demonstrates that Dulos was the alter ego of the Fore Group during all relevant times such that the independence of the corporation ceased to exist, the corporate veil should be pierced and the Estate of Fotis Dulos is liable for damages awarded in count one," Noble wrote.

In total, Dulos' estate owes Farber just over $1.93 million, but how much she will collect remains to be seen, because at the time of his death, Fotis Dulos was facing massive debt in addition to the murder charge.

His estate appears to only be worth less than $300,000, and several other claims have been made against it.
