Light snow will fall before sunrise, the National Weather Service writes. Accumulation of up to an inch is possible before the snow changes to rain by mid morning and ends by early afternoon. The highest amounts are expected to occur along I-84 from Danbury to Waterbury where an inch or more of snow is likely.

Hartford and Tolland counties:

Snow begins during the early morning hours Monday and continues until midday potentially mixing with or changing over to rain before ending.

"Anticipate impacts to the Monday morning commute," the National Weather Service states. "Please be prepared for hazardous travel conditions and reduced visibilities with snow."

Here you could see a coating to two inches of snow in certain spots.

Original post: The entire state of Connecticut will see snowflakes falling during Monday’s commute back to work and school. The National Weather Service has issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for most of the state, and there are more snow/rain chances possible later in the week too.

Monday’s snow will be more of a nuisance than anything else as the snowflakes are forecast to begin falling between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. and areas on the coast may only see a coating before the changeover to rain, but it could still lead to some slippery spots.

Areas just inland, and away from the immediate coast, may see an inch of snow Monday morning, and in northern Connecticut up to two inches of snow is possible, according to the National Weather Service.

More snow is possible at times Tuesday night into Thursday in Hartford and Tolland counties where the temps will be cold enough to support some light snow. In southern Connecticut, the temps will be above freezing during this period and some light rain is forecast here.

The bottom line is the upcoming week of weather will feel closer to winter in Connecticut with temps in the low to mid 40s. There are no 50s in the updated 7-day weather forecast from the National Weather Service.

NBC Connecticut Meteorologist Darren Sweeney wrote, “Here are the details on tomorrow's first alert for snow. We're not talking about a lot of accumulation. In fact, just a slushy coating along the shoreline. It's all about the timing. Arrival: 4-6 AM. It transitions to rain quickly along the 95 corridor and eventually works north inland through 10 AM. Expect up to 1" in accumulation (a tad more in the hills possible). Some drizzle and light rain will linger through noon.”
