New Canaan Coronavirus Update: Another Death Reported; 28 Total

The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in New Canaan is 206, according to local officials.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Another New Canaan resident reportedly died of complications from the coronavirus (COVID-19) on Monday, bringing the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in town to 28, according to Emergency Management Director Mike Handler.

The total number of confirmed cases in New Canaan is 206, and 56 percent of those patients are women, and 44 percent are men. The rates of coronavirus-related fatalities in town are 52 percent women, 48 percent men, according to officials.

"Please keep in mind that positive test results from the state tend to get reported to us clustered together and do not necessarily represent an accurate current trend," he said.

In Fairfield County, the number of deaths reached 1,034 as of Monday; the total number of confirmed cases in the county was 13,312, state health officials said.

Statewide, the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases increased by 211 to 33,765 and the number of deaths rose by 41 to 3,008, state health officials said on Monday.

Additionally, the number of new hospitalizations in the state declined by 30 to 1,212, and as of Monday 132,508 people in Connecticut have been tested.
