NEW CANAAN, CT — The attorney for Fotis Dulos, the estranged husband of missing New Canaan mother-of-five Jennifer Farber Dulos, is calling on prosecutors to drop charges against Michelle Troconis, Fotis Dulos' ex-girlfriend.

In a statement released late Thursday night, Norm Pattis said Troconis can provide "a complete alibi" for his client "for the morning of Ms. Dulos's disappearance." Troconis is facing charges of hindering a prosecution and evidence tampering in connection with Jennifer Dulos' disappearance. Fotis Dulos was charged with the same offenses.

"Michelle provides Fotis a complete alibi for the morning of Ms. Dulos's disappearance," Pattis stated. "Yet most likely she will not testify so long as the state presses its meritless claims against her. We are calling on the state to drop the charges against Michelle so that she is available to testify in Fotis's defense. We're asking that the charges against her be dropped so that she can feel free to testify without fearing the consequences."

Jennifer Dulos has been missing since May 24, and Troconis is scheduled to appear in Stamford Superior Court on Friday for a pre-trial hearing, according to court records. Fotis Dulos, who was in the midst of a contentious child custody fight and divorce from Jennifer Dulos at the time of her disappearance, is scheduled for pre-trial on Aug. 2.

Troconis and Fotis Dulos are accused of discarding clothing and other items - some of which, police said, were stained with Jennifer Dulos' blood - in Hartford, which prompted a weeks-long search for clues at a Hartford garbage plant. Additionally, several other locations in New Canaan, Farmington, Avon and Pound Ridge, NY have been searched in connection with the case.

At Jennifer Dulos' New Canaan home, splattered bloodstains also were found in the garage, and police said it appeared that she may have been the victim of a violent crime, and someone tried to clean the scene.

Despite Pattis' statement, Troconis' attorney, Andrew Bowman, has filed a motion in court requesting that Pattis and Fotis Dulos have no contact with them.

Thursday's statement came after New Canaan police denied a report of police activity that afternoon on Welles Lane, the road that Jennifer Dulos lives on.

"Within the last thirty minutes, we were contacted by multiple media outlets regarding police activity in the area of Welles Lane. These are false reports," New Canaan Police Chief Leon Krolikowski stated to Patch and other media outlets.

"These false reports happen on occasion; however, to date, we have received over 1,000 tips, so we urge everyone with information to call the tip line, 203-594-3544, or e-mail tips and information to FindJenniferDulos@newcanaanct.gov or anonymously submit information at www.FindJenniferDulos.com."
