New Canaan Police Remind Residents To Lock Their Vehicles
New Canaan police are reminding everyone to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from them.
NEW CANAAN, CT — Police in New Canaan are reminding everyone to lock their vehicles and remove valuables from them.
Earlier this month, officers spoke with residents in town parks and around the community about the importance of remembering to lock their vehicles, according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
Officers also left these flyers on vehicles in town to share information on how frequently they are stolen or broken into in town.

Last week, a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee was reported stolen from the driveway of a Richmond Hill Road home.
That same day, police received reports of unlocked vehicles being entered and rummaged through on Marshall Ridge Road, Southwood Drive and Richmond Hill Road. A set of Apple Airpods and a phone charger were reported stolen from one of the vehicles, according to police.

According to Chief of Police Leon Krolikowski, New Canaan police have investigated reports of over 30 stolen vehicles and over 40 vehicles entered in 2021 as of last week.
"Please remember to always lock your vehicles and take the keys with you," Krolikowski said in a news release. "Secure valuables and never leave valuables in your vehicle. Often, identity theft occurs when drivers' licenses and credit cards are stolen."
