New Canaan Selectman Calls Town Council Member Actions 'Inappropriate'

The matter has to do with whether the town should pay a contractor that assessed the former Outback Teen Center building.

NEW CANAAN, CT—Selectman Nick Williams called the actions of some Town Council members"inappropriate" after he was told by the town's superintendent of buildings that members told him not to pay certain invoices.

Some Town Council members have expressed disappointment with a study that was done by DiSalvo Engineering on the former Outback Teen Center building, according to the New Canaan Advertiser. The report cited major structural issues, but a report from another company found only minor repairs were needed.
Superintendent of Buildings Bill Oestmann told members of the Board of Selectmen that the Town Council has no authority over what invoices are paid and that duty belongs to the Board of Selectmen.
