No Deposition For Jennifer And Fotis Dulos' Nanny, Judge Decides

Attorneys for Jennifer Dulos' mother, Gloria Farber, were seeking to depose the nanny as part of Farber's civil lawsuit against Fotis Dulos.

NEW CANAAN, CT — The nanny for the children of missing mom Jennifer Farber Dulos and estranged husband Fotis Dulos will not offer a deposition for the time being in the civil case against Fotis Dulos brought by Jennifer's mother, according to a Hartford court judge. Jennifer Dulos vanished on May 24 and remains missing.

Attorneys for Gloria Farber were hoping to speak with Lauren Almeida about Fotis Dulos' business dealings and finances in connection with the civil case, in which Farber is seeking payment for millions dollars worth of what she claims were loans. Fotis Dulos maintains the funds to his luxury home building business from Farber and her late husband were gifts.

William E. Murray, the West Hartford attorney representing Fotis Dulos in the civil matter, countered that he has not had sufficient time to prepare for the Almeida deposition, which was scheduled for Thursday, and the judge bought the argument.

"Counsel for defendants has not had an opportunity to discuss, in detail, the expected testimony of Ms. Almeida and is left with little time to prepare for said deposition once that conversation takes place," Murray wrote in the brief.

If or when Almeida may end up giving a deposition is not known, as Judge Cesar Noble left the door open.

The request by Farber is the latest move in the civil case, which includes an attempt to foreclose on the Farmington home where Fotis Dulos resides, construction for which was partially funded by the Farbers.

Additionally, Gloria Farber separately is fighting Fotis Dulos for sole custody of the couple's five children. Jennifer and Fotis Dulos were in the midst of a contentious divorce and child custody battle at the time of her disappearance.

Fotis Dulos and ex-girlfriend Michelle Troconis are facing criminal charges in connection with Jennifer Dulos' disappearance; Troconis is due back in Stamford Superior Court in that case on Dec. 6, while Fotis Dulos is due on Jan. 7.

The two are accused of dumping items in the Hartford area soon after the disappearance, and some of those items tested positive for Jennifer Dulos' blood. In addition, the two are accused of making false statements about their whereabouts following the disappearance.
