Redevelopment Of Canaan Parish Could Add To New Canaan Affordable Housing: Report
Expanding the public housing complex could help the town with the state's 8-30g regulation.

NEW CANAAN, CT — Expanding the town's Canaan Parish public housing complex on Lakeview Avenue could help New Canaan stave off future affordable housing proposals for a few years, reports the New Canaan Advertiser.
The town recently received a four-year state moratorium from the controversial 8-30g regulation that allows certain housing proposals to override local zoning laws, and expanding Canaan Parish could add additional years to the moratorium.
New Canaan Housing Authority Chairman Scott Hobbs tells the publication that the group is committed to redeveloping the complex, but specific plans have not yet been finalized. He also said the housing authority would consider working with a private developer on an affordable housing project if it could fit within the town.
