Three New Canaan Women Join Junior League Board of Directors
Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk is celebrating its 90th anniversary.

The Junior League of Stamford-Norwalk, Inc. (JLSN) is thrilled to announce the Board of Directors for their 2012-2013 year.
This year’s leadership includes three New Canaan women—Fundraising Director Lisa Ferraro, Communications Director Darcy Smith, and Sustainer Director Noelle Hughes.

2013 marks the 90th anniversary of JLSN and promises to be an exciting year for the League.
“We have an amazing legacy. We are about to commemorate 90 years of history, 90 years of volunteering, 90 years of making a difference in our community with almost 90 community agencies that we either founded or helped to establish,” JLSN President Sarah Neumann said.

Fundraising Director Lisa Ferraro is the Director of the Norwalk Hospital Foundation and has served on the Stamford School Readiness Council and the United Way ofStamford Fund Distribution Committee. A member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, she is currently serving on the board of the Fairfield County Chapter.
“I joined JLSN at the suggestion of a sustainer to meet people and get to know the community,” Ferraro said. “I still enjoy working with all the great women who join the League.”
Communications Director Darcy Smith joined JLSN in 2003. Smith earned her Bachelor’s degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and her Master's from the Universityof Bridgeport. She currently teaches English at New Canaan High School.
Sustainer Director Noelle Hughes joined JLSN close to twenty years ago as a way to get involved with her new community and meet new people. She currently works as abrand ambassador for Carlisle/Per Se. Hughes is also a member of Norwalk Hospital Community Board and Catechist at St. Aloysius.
Rounding out this year’s leadership are President Sarah Neumann (Darien), President-Elect Susan Bridges (Stamford), Treasurer Aileen Murphy (Norwalk), Secretary Stephanie O’Brien (Stamford), Community Council Director Kathleen Custis (Norwalk), Membership/Training Council Director Cameron Sokolik (Darien), Planning Council Director Kerry Safir (Stamford), and Nominating/Placement Director Christine Harris (Darien).

JLSN hasfounded, or has participated in the establishment of, more than 80 community agenciesincluding the Fairfield County Women’s Center at Norwalk Community College,Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum in Norwalk,Domestic Violence Services, Shelter for the Homeless (Pacific House), the Volunteer Center of Southwestern Fairfield County, Weir Farm Docent Program and the Women’sCrisis Center.
