Tips Pouring Into New Canaan PD In Jennifer Dulos Case

Jennifer Dulos, the 50-year-old mother of five, disappeared on May 24. Read the statement from the private school that the children attend.

NEW CANAAN, CT — As authorities continued to "diligently comb through mountains of trash" at a Hartford refuse facility Thursday, searching for clues in the disappearance of mother-of-five Jennifer Dulos, the New Canaan Police Department has received hundreds of tips in the case, according to Lt. Jason Ferraro.

As of Thursday, the department has received more than 225 tips regarding Dulos' disappearance, and a request for surveillance video from local residents and businesses has generated nearly 70 responses.

"Investigators continue to work diligently to vet the tips and video surveillance for viable leads or evidence to assist in locating Jennifer Dulos," Ferraro stated. "Because this is an ongoing investigation, specific information gained from these tips and video surveillance will not be shared."

Since her disappearance on May 24, a multijurisdictional law enforcement team - including New Canaan police, the Connecticut State Police Major Crime Squads from both the Western District and Central District, and others - continue to "explore all criminal behavior" that led to her disappearance.

Her estranged husband, Fotis Dulos, 51, with whom Jennifer Dulos was in the midst of divorcing at the time of her disappearance, has been charged in connection with her disappearance and remains in custody. His girlfriend, Michelle Troconis, 44, also was charged but is currently free on bond.

In a newly released statement Thursday, Aaron Cooper, Head of School at New Canaan Country School where the Dulos children attend, said the five children are "beloved members of the New Canaan Country School community" who the school continues to support.

"As a school that believes deeply in the sanctity of childhood and as a tight-knit community of people who believe in our common humanity, we are heartbroken about Jennifer Dulos’s disappearance," Cooper stated. "We know Jennifer as a devoted mother, a dedicated member of our parent community and an active volunteer. Over the last two years, she had a daily presence on campus, and her kindness and warmth have been palpable to everyone who has come into contact with her. We continue to support the five beautiful Dulos children, who are beloved members of the New Canaan Country School community, along with all of our NCCS community during this unbearably difficult time. We thank the news media for helping us to protect the privacy of our students and focus on their school activities during this time when routine and normalcy is so vital."

In New Canaan this week, a petition was started to get the town to install video surveillance cameras at Waveny Park, the 300-acre site where Jennifer Dulos' 2017 Chevrolet Suburban was discovered on May 24. As of Thursday afternoon, nearly 1,100 people had signed the petition toward a goal of 1,500 signatures.

Ferraro said that "search warrants have been obtained and served on properties owned by Fotis Dulos, but that "details regarding these searches will not be released as it could compromise this very active criminal investigation."

The investigation at the Materials Innovation and Recycling Authority in Hartford has been going on for a couple of days and will continue.

Fotis Duos and Troconis were tracked by cell phones and surveillance footage stopping several times and dumping garbage bags and other items in the Hartford area in the days following Jennifer Dulos' disappearance, according to the arrest warrants.

Many of those items have been recovered and they were stained in what tested positively for Jennifer Dulos' blood.
