2 Retailers Open Locations In Downtown New Haven
A vintage clothing store and a stationery store are opening their doors in Downtown New Haven.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Two businesses are opening in Downtown New Haven and held ribbon-cuttings on Thursday.
Soulful Threads is a vintage clothing shop located in Hyperion Court at 1022 Chapel St., next to Union League Cafe. The minority and woman-owned business sells "carefully curated vintage clothing, specializing in fashions from the 1990’s and 2000’s," according to a statement from Yale University Properties.
The retailers sources clothes from all over the world and also offers styling services.

Owner Krystina Jackson evaluated several markets in Connecticut and ultimately chose New Haven to open her first brick-and-mortar retail shop.
“I love the diversity in New Haven. There are cultures and subcultures everywhere,” Jackson said in a statement. “Yale has created an environment that is inviting, artsy, and eclectic. It's inspiring to be around."

The store will hold a grand opening Nov. 25.
The second store opening is Paper Source, a stationery, paper, and gift shop located at 37 Broadway next to J. Crew and Urban Outfitters.
The store carries "a curated blend of paper goods, gift wrapping, calendars, appointment books, crafts, party supplies, envelopes, gifts and more."
The store's mission inspires people to “Do Something Creative Every Day.”
Paper Source is a national chain with 122 locations in 28 states. It was founded in 1983 in Chicago.
“We are excited to welcome another minority and woman-owned small business to The Shops at Yale on Chapel Street, and an experienced retailer that is introducing a previously unmet offering to the Broadway Shopping District,” Lauren Zucker, Yale University Associate Vice President for New Haven Affairs and University Properties, said in a statement.
