1. Erik Clemons Steps Down as ConnCORP CEO on October 7 (theinnercitynews.com) — New Haven's ConnCORP is undergoing a major leadership change as founding CEO Erik Clemons steps down October 7, while its First Haven redevelopment and programs continue as planned. Clemons, also tied to ConnCAT and the New Haven Green, helped launch initiatives like the Wealth Accelerator and Cash Catalyst that channel capital and support into Dixwell, Newhallville, and Greater New Haven families, artists, and entrepreneurs.
2. Heathers Musical to Launch Tour in Baltimore (encoremagazine.com) — Heathers: The Musical is planning a North American tour that includes a stop in New Haven, giving local theater fans a chance to see the darkly comic cult favorite live. The show, based on the 1988 film and a long-running Off-Broadway hit, will visit New Haven sometime after its May 2027 launch in Baltimore, with exact dates still to be announced.
3. Crews working to clear roads, restore power after nor'easter (wtnh.com) — Line crews are working from New Haven to communities across Connecticut to clear storm debris and restore power after a prolonged nor'easter. Eversource reports hundreds of blocked roads already cleared and more than 146,000 customers back online. Residents in New Haven should still prepare for lingering outages as repairs continue around the clock.
4. Eversource, UI crews restore power across Connecticut after weekend nor'easter (nbcconnecticut.com) — Utility crews are steadily restoring electricity after the weekend nor'easter, including in New Haven and other shoreline communities served by United Illuminating. UI says 25,000 customers have power back, while Eversource reports more than 146,000 restorations statewide. Residents should still expect scattered outages as crews clear debris, repair lines, and work around the clock to finish restoration.
5. Scottsdale Claims Top Spot in WalletHub Employment Rankings (news-usa.today) — New Haven ranks 62nd in WalletHub's new comparison of 180 U.S. job markets, reflecting a mixed picture for local workers. While cities like Scottsdale and Portland lead the list, the report suggests New Haven's employment prospects are shaped by varied wages, commute times, and economic conditions that residents may want to weigh when considering job changes or relocation.
