Cops Need Public Help: Hillhouse High Student, 16, Fatally Shot Sunday
Mark Mulongo, shot on Shelton Ave. at 8:30 p.m., was taken to the hospital where he died, police say, as they urge witnesses to come forward

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 16-year-old boy was shot on Shelton Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, police said.
When cops arrived, spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell said, they found Mark Mulongo, a Hillhouse High School student, who'd been shot. It's reported he'd been playing basketball with friends in a Shelton Avenue driveway, though when asked by Patch, Dell said that is unconfirmed.
Rushed to Yale-New Haven Hospital for treatment, Dell said he succumbed to his injuries.

Police launched an investigation into the fatal shooting and detectives have been searching for evidence and witnesses. And, investigators are "urging members of the public to come forward with any information they may have about the incident," Dell said.
Chief of Police Karl Jacobson pleaded for the public's help.

“We are deeply saddened by this loss of young life,” Jacobson said. “Our detectives are working tirelessly to piece together the events that led to this tragedy. We are asking anyone who may have information, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to come forward and help us bring those responsible to justice.”
