Double Homicide Under Investigation In New Haven: Police
Police found the two victims shot in a parked SUV.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Police are investigating a weekend double homicide in New Haven and have arrested a person of interest, according to authorities.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter activation for nine rounds of gunfire and multiple 911 calls around 8 a.m. Saturday in the area of Winthrop Avenue and Goffe Terrace, police said. When they arrived, they found two gunshot victims in a parked Acura MDX, according to police.
The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene with identification pending Saturday night, while the passenger, identified as 27-year-old Jonathan Garcia of New Haven, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital and died shortly after being admitted, police said.

Authorities seized a gun from the scene, arrested a person of interest who was on parole, and were working on other significant leads, according to police.
“Both victims appear to have been targeted in this incident, and there is no threat to the general public,” police said in a news release.
