NEW HAVEN, CT —A serious vehicle crash at a Fair Haven intersection Wednesday afternoon sent one to the hospital with potentially "life-threatening" injures, police said.

Around 2 p.m., a citizen reported a crash at the intersection of Peck Street and Blatchley Avenue, New Haven police spokesperson Capt. Rose Dell said. When cops and firefighters got there, the "jaws of life" were employed by first responders to free the driver of a Subaru WRX, she said. The man was taken to the hospital, Dell said, with serious injuries.

Dell said police secured video surveillance that captured the crash, which showed a Dodge Ram traveling westbound on Blatchley Avenue with the Subaru traveling southbound on Peck Street. She said the video shows the "Subaru ran a stop sign and collided with the Dodge Ram as it crossed the intersection." The Subaru then "veered sideways and struck a tree in the southwest corner of the intersection."
