New Haven-Based BioPharma Co. Laying Off 110, Most Remote But Not All
In mid-October, 110 workers will get pink slips from New Haven-based Bioxcel Therapeutics, 7 of whom work in its Long Wharf facility.
NEW HAVEN, CT —In mid-October, 110 workers will get pink slips from New Haven-based Bioxcel Therapeutics, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter sent to the state Department of Labor's Dislocated Workers Unit.
And while most are remote workers, seven executive-level in-person staffers at the biotech's Long Wharf Drive facility will also be let go. Those roles include an associate director scientist, data management director and clinical operations specialist.
According to its website, Bioxcel Therapeurics is a "biopharmaceutical company developing transformative medicines in neuroscience utilizing artificial intelligence approaches."

The company noted in an Aug. 14 second quarter report news release that the layoffs were part of a "strategic reprioritization," noting it is reducing its workforce by more than half, from 190 to 80 employees.
The WARN notice reads that the first "employee separations" are expected on Oct. 15. One hundred and three remote workers will be let go and seven who work at Bioxcel Therapeurics' facility at 555 Long Wharf Drive. The layoffs are permanent, the company wrote.

Slated to be cut from the brick-and-mortar job site are a human resources staffer, a software data engineer, and an IT program and project manager. Remote workers who’ll be let go include 66 “institutional specialists,” and nine medical science staffers. Click here to see the complete list of staffers being pink-slipped.
