New Haven Detective Seriously Injured after Being Pinned Under Motorcycle: Update
The 14-year veteran of the New Haven Force was struck while he was directing traffic Monday afternoon on Kimberly Avenue.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A New Haven police detective suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon after he was struck and pinned under a motorcycle while he was directing traffic on Kimberly Avenue in New Haven, according to police.
Detective Juan Ingles, 47, was struck at about 3:15 p.m. while he was directing traffic in the 300 block of Kimberly Avenue near the I-95 overpass.
"Detective Ingles was pinned beneath the motorcycle until he was freed by others at the scene," New Haven police spokesperson, Officer David B. Hartman, wrote in a statement. "He has sustained serious injuries but has remained conscious. Detective Ingles was taken by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment."

The operator of the motorcycle remained at the scene was interviewed by police. The department’s Crash Team is conducting the investigation.
"The identity of the motorcycle operator is being withheld until the investigation has advanced and it has been determined what, if any charges will be filed," Hartman wrote.

Det. Ingles is a 14-year veteran of the New Haven Police Department, and is currently assigned to the Family Services Unit and is a Police Bomb Squad Technician.
