New Haven Man, 29, Running From Cops Faces Drug, Reckless Endangerment, Related Charges: NHPD

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tuesday night, while conducting a crime suppression detail focused on the area of George and Norton streets due to recent gunfire, members of the New Haven police Shooting Task Force and Criminal Intelligence Unit saw a black Chrysler 200 with a plate that didn't match the vehicle. Cops tried to make a car stop at Edgewood Avenue and Grasso Blvd., but the driver took off, police said.

"The vehicle attempted to flee onto Route 34 before returning to New Haven, but officers deployed Star Chase GPS trackers and Stop Sticks, which were successful in disabling the vehicle," police posted on "X."

According to police, the driver, Marcus Edward Singleton, 29, of Meriden, "stopped on the grassy median near Pendleton Street and ran into Edgewood Park before being apprehended."

Police said inside the vehicle was nearly four grams of crack cocaine. Singleton was charged first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal possession of narcotics, engaging in a police pursuit, interfering with an officer and several traffic-related charges.

He was held on $75,000 bond.
