New Haven Man, 59, Charged After Following, Trying To Lure Girls, 8 and 11, Into Coming Home With Him: NHPD (patch.com) — New Haven police say two young sisters escaped after a 59-year-old city man allegedly followed them home, tried to lure them to his house, and briefly grabbed the younger child's arm. Officers used surveillance video and a suspect description to locate and arrest Eduardo Campos in Kimberly Square, charging him with risk of injury to a minor, breach of peace, and an additional warrant under an alias.
   

2. Two Teens, 15 and 16, Suffered Non-Life-Threatening Gunshot Wounds Sunday In Fair Haven Shooting: NHPD (patch.com) — Two teenagers were treated at Yale New Haven Hospital campuses Sunday morning after suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds believed to stem from an earlier shooting in Fair Haven. New Haven police are investigating and urging anyone with information about the neighborhood gunfire to contact detectives or use the anonymous tip line.
   

3. Facilities Roundup: ABM On The Way Out; NHPS Eyes New In-House Director; Hillhouse Roof Replacement Advances (newhavenindependent.org) — New Haven Public Schools are ending their facilities contract with ABM this month and rapidly rebuilding an in‑house maintenance team, while tackling leaks, pests, and flood damage in several school buildings. Hillhouse High is slated for a major state‑funded roof replacement, and city officials are launching intensified safety inspections and demanding detailed, monthly, school‑by‑school facilities updates.
   

4. Man accused of kidnapping 5-year-old in New Haven, threatening police pursuit: Police (nbcconnecticut.com) — New Haven police have charged Christopher Rodriguez after he allegedly took a 5-year-old boy from a bus stop, refused to return him, and threatened a deadly police pursuit. An AMBER Alert and crisis negotiators helped secure the child's safe release in Bridgeport, and Rodriguez was later arrested in Branford on kidnapping and related charges with bond set at $300,000.
   

5. New Haven Union Station plans call for major upgrades and new local businesses (nbcconnecticut.com) — Major renovations are coming to New Haven's Union Station, bringing new dining, retail, and upgraded passenger spaces while also spurring up to 2,500 nearby housing units. Officials are seeking local businesses to fill 13 new storefronts inside the station, with vendor applications due January 29, 2027, and construction phases stretching through 2029.
