1. 12-Month Pause Approved For Data Center Development (newhavenindependent.org) — New Haven's Board of Alders has approved a 12-month moratorium on new AI-related data centers, giving the city time to study environmental and zoning impacts. The pause doesn't apply to quantum and life sciences projects like the planned hub at 2 Church Street, and could shape future development in neighborhoods from the Annex to Union Station's transit-oriented zone.
   

2. New Haven Union Station could look very different. Here's what's planned (nhregister.com) — New Haven's Union Station is set for a major makeover, with new bars, expanded dining and retail, upgraded restrooms, and platform improvements rolling out through 2030 and beyond. State Street Station will also see new platforms, a pedestrian bridge, and accessibility upgrades. Expect years of construction but a more modern, comfortable commute when it's done.
   

3. Former Ralph Walker Ice Rink operator sues New Haven over contract award (nhregister.com) — New Haven is facing a lawsuit from former Ralph Walker Ice Rink operator Skate New Haven, which claims the city breached its contract and mishandled the bidding process for a new manager. City officials, including Mayor Justin Elicker, say the suit is baseless and are backing Elm City Sports Group's proposed five‑year contract as the rink prepares for skating season.
   

4. 2 Church Street Development Scoping Notice (ct.gov) — A major new research and office building is proposed for 2 Church Street in downtown New Haven as part of the city's Quantum and Life Sciences Innovation Cluster. Residents can submit comments or request a public scoping meeting this summer as the state reviews environmental impacts, neighborhood connectivity, and how the project fits into the Downtown Crossing and Hill-to-Downtown plans.
   

5. Yale New Haven Hospital's High-Risk Patient MRSA Prevention Initiative (cthosp.org) — Yale New Haven Hospital has rolled out a new MRSA prevention program that's already cutting serious bloodstream infections among high‑risk patients. By standardizing nasal treatments based on risk and involving patients in their own care, the hospital reports better outcomes, high compliance, and fewer refusals, earning a statewide award for data-driven quality improvement.
