Popular New Haven Restaurant To Close After 10 Years In Business
A State Street restaurant and bar has announced it will open its door for the last time this weekend.
NEW HAVEN, CT — Oak Haven Table & Bar announced that it will be closing for good this weekend after more than a decade in business.
The restaurant posted the following on Instagram:
"After 10 1/2 years of business on State Street in New Haven we have decided to close our doors. Our last night of operation will be Saturday, December 2. We will be celebrating the repeal of prohibition party across New Haven. We invite one and all to come down and say goodbye to one of New Havens original bourbon bars. Words cannot describe our appreciation and love that this city has shown us.

"We are extremely proud to say that we were a part of this community for over a decade. We hope you can stop down this week for one last cocktail or meal and share one last memory in East rock.
"Thank you, we love you all, and we hope you enjoyed This time together as much as we did!"

Owners Albert Greenwood and Craig Hotchkiss said the restaurant never fully recovered following COVID-19 restrictions in 2020, The New Haven Register reported. Revenues were down 40% this year.
The increased cost of doing business also affected the restaurant, with the price of items like steak increasing.
The restaurant is described as "a modern American restaurant with a seasonal menu and bourbon focused craft cocktail beverage program." It receives an average of 4.5 stars on both Google Reviews and Open Table.
Oak Haven's Instagram post had received 144 likes and 26 comments. One user wrote: "This is so sad, we love oak haven and have many great memories there over the years."
