Hit-and-Run Death Lawsuit Settled for $1.1 Million
A Newington woman struck the back end of a vehicle on Interstate 91 in 2016, causing fatal injury to a Colchester man.

WINDSOR LOCKS, CT — The estate of a man killed instantly when his pickup truck was struck from behind by an impaired driver on Interstate 91 in Windsor Locks in Oct. 2016 has settled a lawsuit for $1.1 million, the Connecticut Law Tribune reported.
Attorneys representing the estate of Kevin Dutra, 46, of Colchester, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the estate of the motorist which struck his truck, Katell Gunning, 34, of Newington. The suit also named Hands Together, a nonprofit organization, and its executive director, Douglas Campbell, as defendants.
The Volkswagen Tiquan that Gunning was driving was owned by Hands Together, and Campbell had permitted Gunning to drive the vehicle despite the fact her driver's license was suspended at the time, the suit alleges.
