Newington Zoning Commission To Hear Pack N Stor Sign Proposal
Newington's zoning commission will hold a Nov. 11 hearing on a Pack N Stor sign proposed for the Berlin Turnpike.
NEWINGTON, CT — The Town Plan and Zoning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing Nov. 11 on a proposed illuminated Pack N Stor sign on the Berlin Turnpike, with planning staff recommending approval.
The special permit application, TPZ-26-23, calls for a freestanding sign at 2176 Berlin Turnpike. Ayzo Ridge Consultants LLC submitted the request for property owner Pack N Stor Wethersfield LLC, with Priya Patel listed as the contact. The petition appears under both public hearings and new business on the meeting agenda.
According to a Nov. 3 planning staff report, the two-sided sign would stand 12 feet tall, have internal lighting and sit 35 feet from the roadside property line. Its two sides would have a combined area of about 150 square feet.

Staff recommends approval with a condition requiring a licensed land surveyor to stake the sign’s location before construction. The report says the proposal meets height and area requirements and that the town engineer found no sightline issues.
The application covers the roadside sign. Wall signage would be on the storage building in Wethersfield, according to the staff report. The meeting materials also include the applicant’s project narrative and sign drawings and location plans.

At the Oct. 14 meeting, planning staff reported working with geographic information systems personnel on the Open Space Zone and said additional information would be presented at a later meeting, according to the minutes awaiting approval.
The commission is also scheduled to receive the September zoning enforcement report, which lists 85 illegal signs removed. Other agenda items include a town planner update, current land use applications and Oct. 29 correspondence from the Capitol Region Council of Governments.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Town Council Chamber, Room 103, at Newington Town Hall, 200 Garfield St.. Residents can also attend through Zoom, using webinar ID 889 5723 2619 and passcode 370202. Additional access instructions are posted on the town’s virtual meeting schedule.
