• 18 Arrested After 200-Vehicle Street Takeover In Newington: Police (patch.com) — Newington residents are learning more about a massive July 12 street takeover on the Berlin Turnpike that drew about 200 off-road vehicles and led to 18 arrests after a lengthy police investigation. Officers describe traffic being blocked, stunts in the roadway, riders cutting across local business properties, and near-collisions, and they say more arrests are expected as they seek additional information from the public. 
• Newington girls volleyball continues dominance with Monday sweep over Middletown (newbritainherald.com) — Newington High's girls volleyball team pushed its record to 7-1 with a dominant straight-sets win at Middletown, highlighting how far the Nor'Easters have come since last year's rough start. Coach Kade Van Linter credits a strong team culture and mental toughness, and the squad now turns its attention to hosting Hall on Thursday evening in Newington.
