18-Month-Old Child Taken on Drug Run in New London: Police
Police said they pulled over a driver after observing them stop at several places with known drug activity connections.

Two men were seen driving in New London at approximately 10:25 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, stopping at different locations that have known connections to drug activity.
New London Deputy Police Chief Peter Reichard said members of the New London Police Department Narcotics Investigative Division observed the stops and followed the car to at least one of the locations that has a history of illegal narcotics sales.
The passenger of the car, later identified as Andrew Pendexter, 31, of 69 Canterbury Rd., Mystic, walked into the residence, stayed for a brief period of time, and then went back into the car.

âThe operator was observed violating a motor vehicle infraction, at which time the vehicle was stopped,â Reichard said. âInvestigators confronted Pendexter about his activities, at which point he turned over a small quantity of narcotics.â
Investigators said the narcotics were consistent with heroin and Pendexter was placed under arrest on a narcotics charge and risk of injury to a minor.

Police saw an 18-month-old child sitting in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle, who was present in the car while officers observed the driver traveling around New London.
The child was placed in protective custody and transported to police headquarters. The Department of Children and Families and Neglect Hot Line workers responded to headquarters and took custody of the child.
