2 Dead As Police Investigate Shooting, Apartment Building Fire
Two victims were found in a Granite Street building Wednesday night.

NEW LONDON, CT — Two people are dead and a police officer was treated for smoke inhalation following a fire Wednesday night, according to police. Police received a call reporting shots fired at 7:56 p.m. at Granite and Williams streets.
Officers received further information about a fire at 48 Granite St. Officers arrived at the address and along with fire department personnel began evacuating the apartment building .
Two victims were found in the building. One was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was transported to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for treatment and was later pronounced dead.

The victims have not yet been identified.

Granite Street between Williams and Brainard streets was closed to traffic.
It's unclear if this incident is related to another shots fired call reported Wednesday evening.
Police are investigating along with the New London Fire Marshal, New London States Attorney Office, Connecticut State Police Major Crime Unit, and Connecticut State Police Fire Marshal Unit.
