2 Dogs Left In 107-Degree Car At New London Beach: Police

Police said the interior temperature of the vehicle was measured at 107 degrees Fahrenheit.

NEW LONDON, CT — Police said they removed two small dogs from a 107-degree car in the parking lot of Ocean Beach Park on Tuesday.

According to a news release, a concerned person contacted police at approximately 4:59 p.m. about two small dogs inside an unoccupied parked car. Police and Animal Control Officers responded to further investigate.

Police said officers subsequently located an unlocked vehicle with windows barely open and two small dogs contained inside a plastic cage without water.

"The dogs were immediately removed from the vehicle for well-being purposes and provided water," Captain Brian M. Wright said in a release. "The interior temperature of the vehicle was measured at 107 degrees Fahrenheit."

Police said the owner, 38-year-old Nicholes Seguin of Palmer, Mass., was located at approximately 5:40 p.m. Further investigation determined the accused had arrived at the park at approximately 3:16 p.m., and he was issued a criminal summons for cruelty to animals and unvaccinated animals, police said.

Animal Control Officers took custody of the dogs, police said.
