9 Arrested For Blocking Electric Boat Entrance In New London: Police

Protesters blocking the entrance to Electric Boat were arrested Monday morning, according to police.

NEW LONDON, CT — Nine people were arrested for blocking the entrance to the Electric Boat property Monday morning, according to police. Police responded to multiple reports of driveway entrances being blocked by protesters at 6:24 a.m.

Police said the protesters were "blocking and preventing free passage of the vehicles attempting to enter the property."

This resulted in traffic backing up on city streets.

Those blocking the driveway entrances were "all afforded ample opportunity to vacate the private driveway," according to police. Those who did not move were taken into custody.

Signs were also glued to the entrance to the private driveway during this incident, police said.

The nine people were charged with first-degree trespassing, disorderly conduct, and third-degree criminal mischief.

All were released on non-surety bonds and are due to appear in New London Superior Court on Nov. 27.
