All Swimming Advisories Lifted: Ledge Light Health District
Swimming advisories for all area beaches have been lifted.

NEW LONDON, CT — Swimming advisories for all beaches have been lifted, according to the Ledge Light Health District. This follows a series of closures in New London and Stonington.
An initial test found the following beaches had results exceeding the bacterial action levels set by the state: Stonington, Wadawanuck Beach, Dubois Beach, Lords Point Beach, Williams Beach, and Mason's Island Yacht Club.
But only Ocean Beach Park failed on a re-sample taken Friday. A swimming advisory was posted but then lifted Saturday when bacterial counts were shown below the action level.

"At this time, all swimming advisories and/or closures in all areas within the Ledge Light Health District have been lifted," the district said in a statement.
The statement continues: "Please be aware that rain or other contaminating events occurring before the Monday morning sampling can lead to elevated bacterial counts, especially in bathing areas with stormwater runoff (storm drainpipes and/or extensive impervious surfaces) or low water turnover (inland bathing areas). We recommend those individuals responsible for the bathing areas take these events into consideration."
