Bank Street Fire Closes Roads, Injures Firefighter: Reports
Police, firefighters and the mayor took to social media to alert residents and motorists about the fire at 43 Bank St.

NEW LONDON, CT — A structure fire has injured a firefighter and closed some streets in downtown New London.
New London Police Department tweeted and shared to Facebook at around 8 a.m. that a two-alarm working fire was underway at 43 Bank St. The location was the four-story Lawrence R. Shea Building.

Bank Street between Tilley and State streets was closed as a result, Mayor Michael Passero shared on social media with a link to a New London Day story.

And at around 8 a.m., there was a report that EMS was called for an injured firefighter.

New London firefighters reported shortly after 11 a.m. on Facebook that, "Units responded to 43 Bank Street for a reported Fire Alarm. While enroute the assignment was upgraded as reports of smoke in the building came in. BC3 transmitted a 2nd alarm on arrival. The fire was quickly knocked down, and smoke was evacuated."
There is no mention in the post of an injured firefighter, but citing officials, local media Fox 61 reported one firefighter did suffer "minor injures."
