Learn
 the drypoint printmaking process from start to finish! Features an 
introduction to the printing press (certification for members)
This beginner-friendly class
 is an introduction to drypoint, an engraving method where an image is 
drawn into a printing plate with sharp tools. No chemicals are needed to
 create beautiful intaglio prints that can range from precise and 
delicate to bold and graphic. This class will take you through the 
entire process of creating and printing drypoints from a plastic plate. 
You’ll learn how to prepare the plate, use the tools, ink, and print on 
an etching press.
Please come prepared with a 5 x 7 image that you will trace over using a sharp tool. The image will be created using a series of lines, so keeping it simple will allow enough time to complete the whole process during class time.
Certification for Members- Printing Press
MEMBERS- Because of generous donations from the Frank Loomis Palmer Fund, Bank of America, N.A., Trustee, the price of our certification classes has been greatly subsidized, making them more accessible to our membership.

Make a handmade set of hardwood coasters in this two-part woodshop class. 2-Parts Monday 8/3 &amp; 8/10 , 5-8p.
Create
 a beautiful handmade set of hardwood coasters while building your 
woodworking skills! In this two-session workshop, students will learn 
the process of wood lamination by combining different hardwood strips 
into a unique patterned design.
Participants will glue up their 
pieces, flatten and resaw their material, then shape and prepare their 
coasters for finishing. By the end of class, each student will leave 
with a completed set of eight coasters (or two sets of four) and finish 
to apply at home.
Along the way, students will gain hands-on 
experience with key woodshop tools and techniques. Spark members who 
demonstrate safe and confident use may receive certifications on the 
jointer, planer, bandsaw, and router table.
No prior woodworking experience required. All materials included.
18+
&nbsp;This is a two-part class that meets Monday 8/3+8/10, 5-8p.
For Spark Members: This class will provide Jointer, Planer, Bandsaw, Router table certification
 for Spark Makerspace Members who demonstrate safe usage of the tool.

Stained Glass Strip Panels: 2-day workshop for beginners at Spark Makerspace on Saturday 8/8 &amp; Sunday 8/9, 10-3p.
Two-Day Beginner Workshop!
This
 is a perfect project for those with little or no experience working 
with stained glass. You will construct a colorful art glass strip panel 
up to 12 inches long, suitable for hanging in a window. You will be 
taught the techniques of the copper foil method of construction and 
learn to score, grind, foil, solder, frame and finish the entire piece 
in this 2-day workshop.
All materials included.
Be sure to bring your lunch with you. There will not be enough time to get food off-site. Please note: sufficient
 hand dexterity and the ability to stand while working with tools are 
required. There will be a class break; bringing a snack/lunch is 
encouraged. Closed-toed shoes must be worn.

Deans Mill Farm 

Built in the mid-1700s as a functioning livestock farm, Deans Mill Farm has gone through an evolution in recent decades. A full renovation of the historic buildings and rejuvenation of the surrounding 70+ acres has made the property into the incredible venue it is today. Deans Mill Farm now operates primarily as a private event space and five-room bed and breakfast tucked down a private road in Stonington, Connecticut. It shares its property with Dragonfly Equestrian Center and is home to dozens of horses. On the property lies meadows, hiking trails, beautiful fields and Dragonfly Disc Golf. The property can be rented for weddings, birthday parties and other special events. Additionally, the bed and breakfast can be rented by the room or reserved in its entirety for complete privacy. The Farm has the ability to host small private indoor events for up to 50 guests in the Farmhouse.
