Children's Learning Center at Mitchell College Hosts Open House
Offers Both Preschool and Kindergarten Options for Families in Nature-based Learning Environment

The Children's Learning Center (CLC) at Mitchell College invites families of children ages 3 to 5 to an open house on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 10 a.m. to Noon. Located in the historic Chappell Cottage at Mitchell Woods, 701 Montauk Avenue, New London, the CLC is enrolling children for preschool and, new this year, kindergarten for the 2020-2021 school year. At the open house families can learn about the CLC’s Reggio Emilia Approach focused on nature-based learning, participate in activities for the whole family, pick up information about the program, or register their child/ren for the 2020-2021 school year.
“Since re-opening in 2017 as a Reggio Emilia-inspired program, it has become exceedingly apparent that families are searching for a play and nature-based learning environment for their young children beyond the age of 5. In response to this call, the Children's Learning Center will be opening a kindergarten classroom, using an inquiry-driven, play-based approach to learning, where outdoor explorations, investigations, and adventures are embraced every day of the year,” said Martina Bottinelli, director of the CLC.
Preschool and kindergarten begin on August 31, 2020. Kindergarten is open to children turning 5 before January 1, 2021. Half and full day options for preschool and kindergarten are available, as well as before and after care beginning at 7 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. Financial aid is available for the preschoo l program.
