Coast Guard Band Announced to Remain in New London
Though relocation had been considered, the band is poised to stay in New London.
NEW LONDON, CT - The 55-member Coast Guard Band was announced Tuesday to be staying in New London, according to The Day.
Consideration of the band relocating had been thought about and looked into since September, mainly to ensure it was well-representing the Coast Guard, according to The Day. It is the only military service band not located in Washington, D.C.
It was eventually decided to keep the band in New London and look for more opportunities to play in D.C. and other key venues, according to The Day. The decision to stay will also prevent band members and their families from being uprooted.
