Coast Guard Barque Eagle Returns to New London, Leaving Shortly

NEW LONDON, CT - The Coast Guard Barque Eagle will return to New London on Thursday, May 4, NBC Connecticut reported. It will be open for free public tours before leaving over the weekend.

The Eagle is a U.S. Coast Guard training vessel known as "America's Tall Ship," according to NBC Connecticut. It is both the largest tall ship sailing for America and the only active square-rigger in U.S. government service. (To sign up for New London breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The ship will be open for tours Thursday ( 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.) and Friday (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), NBC Connecticut reported. It will leave the city and head to Bermuda on Saturday, May 6.
