Colorado Man Sentenced for Enticing Minor to Engage in Sexual Activity

A Colorado man has been sentenced for allegedly attempting to entice a 13-year-old female to engage in sexual activity .

NEW LONDON, CT - A Colorado man sentenced to 13 years in prison Friday on charges of enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity.

Nathaniel Smith, 30, of Aurora, Colorado, was sentenced to 156 months of imprisonment followed by 15 years of supervised release for enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity, according to a release.

Court documents and statements made in court indicate the suspect attempted to entice a 13-year-old female to engage in sexual activity in January 2016. Smith allegedly used his cell phone and internet-based messaging and video chatting services to contact the minor.

Smith was arrested on January 25, 2016, in New London after he traveled from Colorado to meet the girl. He has been detained since his arrest.

On December 13, 2016, he pleaded guilty to one count of enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity.
